the path to painting

I became a painter because of my deep desire to find the truest and fullest outward manifestation of my inward expressions. I was fueled by the question, “How do I put these expressions out there for the world to embrace?” I searched for the most appropriate vehicle to speak my true voice and to unlock my artistic proclivity. After many years dedicated to playing music, writing, and professional graphic design, I found my answer when I picked up a paintbrush and paint set nine years ago and started to paint. Shortly after that, I read Marc Chagall’s words printed on a local art gallery’s billboard. The words changed my life: “I aspired to see with my own eyes what I had heard of from so far away: this revolution of the eye, this rotation of colours, which spontaneously and astutely merge with one another in a flow of conceived lines” His words sparked an overwhelming desire in my own soul to create a “revolution of the eye” with my Art and I attempt to spark this insurgence each time I create new paintings.

mixed media art

Working in a single medium would be restrictive to my artistic process.  My textures are deeply layered and created with my technique of layering and stripping to achieve earthy and unpredictable patterns.

I use many different mediums, such as  alcohol inks, acrylics, enamels, spray paints, dyes, pigments, resin, wine, molding pastes and papers within my pieces,

the DNA of Artist Alexia Rose Paintings

Alexia Rose creates out-of-the-box mixed media paintings that emanate life. The textures and color saturation are uniquely her and allows her pieces to speak. She places her soul into her artworks and more. One can feel Alexia's heart beating as you look at her creative paintings. The artist's heart and mind are transformed into glorious color creations of art and light that are very special. The contrast she integrates is bold, and it gives strength to her images; and at the same time lends an emotional movement that is just out of reach- luring the viewer in circles.  Alexia's paintings rarely show the complete structure. The viewer is allowed to finish the piece in their own thoughts. Alexia applies variations, ambiguity, and omissions within the composition, so that a possible interpretation of her images becomes multi-faceted; intending for her pieces to inhabit your thoughts just like a good movie does—the kind you talk about for a long time after you’ve seen it-
